Purposeful Pathways: Book 4

This collection of developmentally sequenced curricular materials is the fourth
volume in a series developed by Roger Sams and BethAnn Hepburn based
elements from the Orff Schulwerk, Kodály and Dalcroze Eurhythmics
methodologies. Each of the 37 lessons found in the book contains four to eight
"pathways" that focus on different learning activities related to a particular
or song, such as literacy, ensemble skills, movement, improvisation and
composition. This structure allows teachers to individualize each lesson to best
serve the needs of their classroom. Book 4 covers quarter notes,
two eighth notes,
dotted half notes,
dotted quarter/eighth note patterns,
eighth/dotted quarter note pattern,
all possible combinations of eighth notes and sixteenth notes,
half rests, and whole rests in simple meter; dotted quarter notes,
three eighth notes,
quarter/eighth note patterns,
dotted half notes, and
dotted quarter rests in compound meter; and Do and La centered diatonic scales
and functional harmony (I-IV-V).
The companion CD-ROM disk (sold separately) contains
electronic visuals in three
formats (Microsoft® PowerPoint®, SMART Notebook™, and Promethean
complement the lessons in the book. Teachers who do not have an interactive
whiteboard in their classroom can project the lessons and manipulate the
from their computer.
