This collection of developmentally sequenced curricular
materials is the second
in a series developed
by Roger Sams and BethAnn Hepburn based on elements from the
Orff
Schulwerk,
Kodály and Dalcroze Eurhythmics methodologies. Each of the 36
lessons
found in the book contains four to eight
"pathways"
that focus on different learning activities related to a
particular concept or song,
such as literacy, ensemble skills, movement, improvisation and
composition.
This structure allows teachers to individualize each lesson to
best serve the
needs
of
their classroom. Book 2 covers do pentatonic and introduce la
pentatonic, as
well as new rhythmic concepts with whole notes, sixteenth
notes and
syncopation.Printable manipulatives for composition
activities are available as a free digital download with the
purchase of the book.The companion
CD-ROM disk (sold separately) contains SMART Board
electronic
visuals
that complement
the
lessons in the book. Teachers who do not have a SMART Board
in their
classroom may still use these visuals by using SMART Notebook
Interactive
